Who Is Graham Nunn?

I began playing guitar at the age of 12. I started off wanting to be Elvis but soon decided I wanted to be James Burton, his lead guitarist. It was not long before I began writing songs but I would not want anyone to hear any of the songs I wrote between 12 and 16 now! I have tried various musical styles: at college in Chichester I wrote modern "classical" music, played in an instrumental jazz / rock band called Osiris and later a three piece pop group called On The Air. Although On the Air recorded a little after college we eventually split up. The drummer in on On The Air was Dave Poore who has gone on to write soundtrack music for (among others) the BBC and a number of films. The bass player and other songwriter was James Grant who now lives in New York. The recordings were made after college under the name Time and Again.

After college I began writing songs with Tim Lovell who had sung in a band I had recorded at college. I wrote some of my best songs with Tim but sadly has few opportunities to play them live and promote them. We recently begun working together again and with the aid of 21st Century technology will be able to work 50 miles apart!

I joined a group that became Wot Gorilla who played covers of everything from Talking Heads to Al Stewart. I also played in Rome In A Day who played covers and originals which gave me my first taste of really playing my own songs. Rome In A Day had a constantly changing line up with the only permanent members being myself and drummer Paul Whittington. Paul has since worked on most of my projects since in one way or another. The last singer to join the group was Darren Dendy (see below).

For a while I played in a three piece power trio called Full House who played Hendrix, Cream, Zeppelin etc. We had a pretty good following and also played in social clubs playing 50s and 60s stuff.

I now play in a duo called The Driscoll Brothers with Darren Dendy. We play modern covers and some originals and do pretty well in the South East / London area.

In the summer of 2001 I began the Graham Nunn Band (not a very imaginative name really) to play rock music live again. The band split up in early 2002 when I found I had a hernia - making shifting gear around very difficult. In 2003 I finished another album of my own songs called Direct From Hollywood and in 2005 I plan to play some solo gigs, produce some more and play in the duo.

Taken some time in 2001, I'm not sure what the idea behind this picture was. Nice car though!
